ABOUT US
DCEA is the leading research centre connecting impact assessment practice to theories of decision-making and governance, with a strong focus on critical engagement with governments, businesses and civil society within regional, national and international policy-making arenas. The Centre provides theoretically pluralistic, methodologically rigorous, and analytically sound input to research and practice, and contributes to out-reach and educational programmes – all with a view to promote participatory and sustainability transition.

Vision:
- Shape sustainable futures through teaching, research and outreach in the field of impact assessment and decision-making
Mission:
- To promote societal transformations for sustainable change through interdisciplinary research, high-quality education and capacity building, and by effectively linking research, policy, and practice communities
- To promote the integration of sustainability considerations at the earliest stages of corporate and political decision-making, placing sustainability, and the SDGs, within the core of project design, planning and policy making
- To foster reflexive and adaptive impact assessment and environmental governance policies and practices, both in Denmark and internationally
- To bring together actors in science, policy, and civil society with the goal of exerting a formative influence on impact assessment, governance and decision-making

Factsheet
We are a multidisciplinary social science research group focusing on the interactions between people and the sea. By addressing issues of legitimacy, democracy, and sustainability in governance, we seek to improve understanding of the strategies used by people in response to social, economic, environmental, and political change.
